Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.
Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 amβ6 pm. It is closed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Big City Tennis at (312) 850-8177; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is chicagocitypickle.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
It has a Google rating of 5.0 out of 5, though from only 1 reviews so far, so treat the score as an early indication rather than a verdict.
Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I've taken group tennis lessons all over the city, and Alec and Austin's sessions at Big City Tennis are by far my favorite. What really sets them apart is that they take the lessons seriously and genuinely seem invested in helping you improve. Their classes are fast-paced and efficient, so you get considerably more reps than I've experienced in other group lessons, even when the class size is a little larger. They also do a great job of giving everyone individual attention. If there's something you need to work on, they'll make sure you get some extra instruction or a few additional hits during a drill rather than just letting you go through the motions. The match play drills are always fun and actually feel useful. Alec and Austin are both fully engaged and focused throughout the entire session, and it's clear they care about providing a good experience and helping everyone get better. If you're looking for group tennis lessons where you'll actually play a lot, get real instruction, and improve, I highly recommend Big City Tennis.
